The Broad Street Practice

Pilates

"In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in twenty sessions you will see the difference, in thirty sessions you will have a whole new body." Joseph Pilates

Pilates involves a series of exercises designed to create a strong, supple and adaptable body. It educates the muscles, particularly those of the deep abdominals, back and pelvic floor, to support the body efficiently and effectively. Pilates is for men and women of all ages and abilities. Exercises can be modified to your own personal capabilities offering a safe yet challenging workout as your body will dictate the pace. With regular practice Pilates can assist you in achieving a toned and improved body shape, developing the body through core strength, flexibility and body awareness.

Pilates could help if you:

  • have a neck, back or joint pain/injury
  • want to protect your joints & spine from further or future injuries
  • are recovering from injury or illness
  • have poor posture
  • want to maintain your fitness through non-impact activity
  • want to start a new fitness regime and tone up
  • are pregnant or have recently had a baby
  • have a referral from another Practitioner

The benefits of Pilates are many:

  • Awareness of correct body posture/alignment to help with posture-related pain
  • Identification of causes of muscle tension or discomfort
  • Rehabilitation from injury
  • Improved flexibility
  • Greater muscle tone and suppleness
  • Excellent mind body connection and awareness
  • Release of tension and the lowering of stress
  • As part of sports training

What happens during the Pilates session?

Your first session will consist of completing a health screening questionnaire, a full consultation of any injuries/pains that you may have and what you would like to get out of the sessions. An explanation of Pilates and its principles will be explained to make sure you have a full understanding of the Practice. Sessions can be mat or equipment based and all are designed especially for you and your requirements. I offer two types of Pilates sessions:

Pilates 1 to 1 Sessions

A 1 to 1 Pilates session is an excellent way to gain a clear understanding of how Pilates can really work for you. This will be your Pilates session meaning that every minute is focused on your training and is wholly relevant to your body and well being. I will provide positive feedback, adjustments and lots of motivation throughout the session! 1 to 1 Pilates in particular works well for clients who are injured or recovering from injury, disabled or want a fully personalised session which will require more individual attention. Sessions are usually 1 hour but can sometimes be longer depending on the client’s requirements.

Pilates fee for 1 to 1 sessions:

  • 1 hour session £42

Pilates 1 to 2 Sessions

These sessions give the same amount of guidance that you get with a 1 to 1 session; however they are particularly popular with people who would like to come with a partner, friend or relative or for those clients who want to find out a little more about Pilates before committing to a 1 to 1 Session. Again sessions are usually 1 hour but can sometimes be longer depending on the client’s requirements.

The first session will include a free 15 minute consultation. Please note all necessary equipment will be provided, wear comfortable, suitable clothing.

Pilates fee for 1 to 2 sessions:

  • 1 hour session SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY RATE (until 31st July 2012) £46
Price is for the session not per person.
