Nutritional Therapy

'Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food''

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutritional science to promote optimum health and prevent disease.

  • Fees - see our fee schedule [here]

It aims to prevent or alleviate a number of health conditions through dietary and lifestyle modifications. The phrase ‘You are what you eat’ does have basis in truth - our bodies utilise nutrients from food for growth, development, regeneration, immunity and so much more. This is why eating a diet that is both healthy, varied and right for you is so important.

Most of us aim to eat a healthy diet but with the conflicting media messages it can be quiet hard to know what is healthy and what isn’t. A nutritional therapist can work with you to provide an individual programme that will suit your tastes and lifestyle and promote optimum health.

Conditions that Nutritional Therapy may help include:

  • Low energy or chronic fatigue
  • Digestive disorders eg IBS, bloating, indigestion
  • Women’s health eg PMS, menopause
  • Weight problems eg weight gain, weight loss
  • Pregnancy eg fertility, nutrition for pregnancy
  • Skin problems eg eczema, psoriasis, acne
  • Heart health eg cholesterol, blood pressure
  • Frequent colds & infections
  • Healthy eating for children
  • Headaches & migraine
  • Depression & anxiety
  • Thinning bones
  • Sleep problems
  • Energy levels
  • Low libido
  • Asthma
  • Stress

The Broad Street Practice’s nutritional service also offers an in-clinic, while-you-wait service for food intolerance testing.

‘The Food Detective Test’ identifies IgG antibodies to specific foods. This simple pin-prick blood test measures 59 foods, with the results available in under an hour.

The consultation process starts with the completion of an in-depth questionnaire that details your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle habits and diet. The first consultation lasts just over an hour and involves a thorough investigation of your health concerns resulting in appropriate dietary and lifestyle changes that are tailored to you. The consultation may also pin-point the need for nutritional supplements and possibly further functional laboratory tests indicated to support your health. Any follow-up consultations are forty five minutes and take into account any feedback from tests or changes that have been implemented.

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY FEES
